HILLSBORO, Texas (KWTX) – Hillsboro investigators continued to search for leads Friday after a woman who was shot outside of the Hillsboro Walmart store died at a local hospital.

The suspect was last seen driving south on the Interstate frontage road in a black crossover SUV.

The shooting was reported just after 6 p.m. Thursday at the store at 401 Coke St. in Hillsboro.

The victim, a 27-year-old Fort Worth woman whose name has not been released, was shot as she sat in a vehicle in the store’s parking lot, police said.

She was flown to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco where she later died.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to call Hillsboro Criminal Investigation Lead Detective Sgt. Michael Vicars at (254) 582.5454 ext. 2153.
