Waco: Healthy Families Expo draws dozens
WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Waco Family Clinic hosted the Health Families Expo Saturday to emphasize the importance of diet, a healthy lifestyle, checkups and answer questions about the COVID vaccine.
Emilie Cunningham, director of programs for women & children at Waco Family Medicine, says if it’s anything the pandemic has taught, it’s that it’s very easy to slack off on staying healthy.
That’s why they hosted the expo to show families how simple it is to get a checkup and live a healthy lifestyle.
“We just want the public to know about it, especially after a long pandemic year,” she said.
“We wanna increase public awareness about the resources available here in Waco because we have so many partner organizations that offer incredible services to improve their health.”
Visitors could even check their blood pressure, glucose levels, BMI and participate in fun exercises you can do at home.
“It’s awesome because we’ve been quarantined for a while and it’s nice to see people out and about while having some fun out here,” said Mark Gurrola, who took his nephew to the expo.
Having fun while emphasizing the value of making good life choices.
“There’s so much overlap in the work that we do,” Cunningham said.
“So, to bring everybody out and learn about what each of us does to live healthy is immensely important.”
