WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A historic season for the Hubbard baseball team has come to an end.

In its first ever state tournament appearance, the Hubbard baseball team fell to Kennard 3-1 in the semifinal round.

Kennard got on the board early with a hit to deep right field that led to an inside the park homerun (officially scored as a triple with an error) to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

Hubbard was able to tie things up in the top of the fourth inning when a Sebastian Olvera single brought pitcher Shelby Noppeney home from second base.

In the bottom of the sixth Kennard added two more runs, and the Jaguars were not able to come back in the 7th.

The school tells KWTX that this is the first time any Hubbard boys athletics program has appeared in a state tournament in the school history.
