Can you believe we are talking about a cold front on the first full day of summer?! Me either but I’m not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. We spent a majority of Monday awaiting the front, so it’s been hot and humid... changes come tonight though as some cooler air starts to sink our way. Temperatures tonight get down into the upper 60s/low 70s.

With this cold front, we have rain chances for the evening with a broken line of showers and storms along the leading edge of the front. Behind it, there could be some scattered activity as well through the rest of the night. There is a marginal potential for some strong or severe storms this evening into the early overnight hours - it will be that leading edge of activity that could bring the stronger storms. Anything behind the frontal passage should not be severe.

Tomorrow, behind the front, we’re left with a shower or two Tuesday morning, some cloud cover, and a light northeasterly breeze. Rain chances really end before 7 am and the rest of the day is rain-free. Humidity stays low and afternoon highs are only in the 80s! Let’s make the most of it because it’s going to be a short-lived cool down... by Wednesday we are back in the 90s with afternoon “feels like” temperatures into the triple digits. Yuck!

Cold fronts in June tend to be limited, but another dip of the jet stream at the end of the week could bring us a second cold front and some weekend rain chances along with below normal temperatures, in the low 90s, into early next week. It’s not a major rain chance or huge cool down but we will take what we can get... especially around this time of the year.
