BELTON, Texas (KWTX) - Heads of cattle died after an 18-wheeler transporting livestock overturned on I-35 Thursday morning near Belton.

The truck, reportedly headed to the Schwertner area near Jarrell, was transporting about 120 heads of cattle. It overturned at mile marker 290 shortly before 6 a.m.

Men on horseback responded to the scene to help round up cattle scattered along the highway.

Traffic was diverted off the interstate at the Loop 121 exit (292) for several hours, but the interstate reopened later in the morning.

The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries, but is expected to be okay.
