One car stopped after pursuit through McLennan County
WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Police said one car was stopped after a pursuit down SB I-35 early Thursday morning. According to Italy Police Chief, the driver was stopped for going the wrong way on the access road along I-35 in the area of the 386 mile marker in the Italy area. The initial call came in around 3:30 Thursday morning.
Chief Scott Mcauley said when officers approached, the driver took off on SB I-35. Chief Mcauley said speeds reached in excess of 100 miles per hour, and several law enforcement agencies tried to assist, including in Hill County, West, Milford and the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office.
Chief Mcauley said the driver was spiked and eventually stopped by the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office.
MCSO said the car was stopped at 5th Street on the access road along SB I-35, just outside downtown Waco.
According to Chief Mcauley, the driver was charged with driving with an invalid license with previous convictions and evading arrest. The driver is being booked into the Ellis County Jail at some point Thursday.
The driver’s name was not immediately available.
