Good News Friday: March 24, 2023

WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Five KISD graduates will receive Distinguished Alumni status. And 71 Class of 2023 seniors will receive scholarships during the that same ceremony next Thursday at the Killeen civic and conference center.

4 Killeen ISD educators have received awards from the Boys Scouts for their outstanding work teaching students and serving as positive role models. The organization says these teachers do an excellent job at teaching Scout law and upholding the Scout oath in their classes. Some qualities scouts display are trustworthiness, being courteous, obedient and brave.

There are a lot of birthdays this week. Linda Brown wants to wish her little sister Shavone Allen an amazing Happy 35th Birthday. Her older sister says Shavone is out going and family oriented and loves football!

Happy Birthday to two of our reporters, first up, Josh Bowering turned 23 this past Tuesday. Josh spent his birthday home with friends and family in Houston. Fun fact, Josh was a competitive swimmer and diver for 11 years growing up.

Happy birthday to Alex Fulton, you might have seen him on TV before he joined our team at KWTX. He was actually in one of the marching bands, the Hendrickson High School Band, featured in the 2016 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade!

And Ke’Sha Lopez participated in H-E-B’s Operation Shower. She joined 33 area military moms last Friday who are expecting and helped throw them Texas sized baby shower. The moms are current active duty or have a spouse that is a partner of deployed members of Fort Hood. The event will included a catered lunch, raffle prizes, games, and the highlight of the event, the distribution of Operation Shower’s signature “Showers In A Box”— gifts of high-quality products for mothers and babies that have been generously donated by companies including H-E-B.
