Multiple deaths reported after head-on collision in Falls County

CHILTON, Texas (KWTX) - April 1, 9:23 a.m. - We now have more information regarding the fatal crash that occurred roughly 0.7 miles west of Chilton around 3:53 p.m., Friday.

A preliminary investigation found that a Fiat 500 headed northbound hydroplaned, causing the vehicle to enter the southbound lane.

It’s then that the Fiat crashed into a Lexus RX causing the Fiat driver to be ejected from the car.

The Fiat driver, identified as 50-year-old Sherrie Holt, from Chilton, and the passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lexus driver, identified as 41-year-old Michelle McCoy, from Arlington, was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other passengers inside the Lexus were transported to Baylor Scott and White in Waco with non-life-threatening injuries.

DPS reminds drivers that slowing down during wet driving conditions can reduce the chances of your vehicle hydroplaning.

This is still an active investigation.

March 31, 6:02 p.m. - Multiple people are dead after a head-on collision involving two vehicles on Highways 7 and 77 in Chilton.

One of the vehicles involved in the wreck rolled over onto the side of the highway.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating.
