An early morning fire Wednesday destroyed a convenience store in Snook after an attempted burglary.

Burleson County authorities say just before 4:30 a.m. to the store in the town of just more than 500 residents southwest of College Station.

Wednesday someone backed a truck into the front of Snook Drive In on County Road 265 and tried to burglarize the building.

It's not clear yet if the truck or the building caught fire first, but when first responders arrived they found both the business and the vehicle engulfed in flames.

Several agencies including Snook VFD, Somerville Fire Department, and Beaver Creek VFD as well as Burleson County Sheriff's Office and Brazos County Sheriff's Office responded to the massive fire.

The Burleson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the attempted burglary, but no arrests have been made.

The owners of the Snook Drive In say this was the first store they ever opened in the Brazos Valley and they hope whoever is responsible is held accountable.

No injuries have been reported.
